I have been teasing this for a while and a few people in the inside know everything I am talking about was in the works back in 2016.
It was hinted at with the book Legacy of the Kokuryukai. The American Kokuryukai is a project bridging martial arts & ninjutsu, it takes into account that Ninjutsu is a) Not a Martial Art and b) Ninjutsu Espionage and Scout Craft.
Ninjutsu can be applied to any martial art and, historically speaking there were "guarden shinobi" these were formally known as Oniwaban or spies... They worked in groups known as Kobushikata and were established during the 8th Tokugawa Shogun. A group of poorly trained spies, the kobushikata was lead by a Oniwaban (a professional spy) who reported directly or indirectly to someone in the Shogun's to report to the Shogun.
This is a concept based on the Genin, Chunin and Jonin concept of ninjutsu. Genin are "low people" trained on an as needed basis. A peasant farmer used as a native agent to warn, a shinobi observer is an example of both a Kobushikata and a Genin. As well as a court gardener or, maid listen in and spy on a Lord's conversations. Martial arts was never actually a requirement, except to the Samurai who managed such things.
This is the basic concept behind the American Kokuryukai concept... I use the name American Kokuryukai, because it is based on the methods of Omoto Ryu Budo which contained Ninjutsu training... Fujibayashi even stated that the terms for shinobi have changed at different times throughout history (page 19 of Book of the Ninja: The First Complete Translation of the Bansenshukai by Antony Cummins & Yoshoe Minami), so ninja weren't always called ninja and, still performed ninjutsu. Hence why at a later period, the term Genin (low man or low person) became Kobuskikata or, Code or Covered up Groups of lower class agents who often worked as gardeners, field labor, general unskilled labor, etc. and, why Oniwaban were sometimes referred to as Ninja or Shinobi. In fact, some Historical Sources say that Oniwaban were Iga & Koga Ninja/Shinobi employed by the Tokugawa Shogunate. Some Shinobi or Ninja were simple low status Ashigaru (foot soldiers) sent ahead to scout out the enemy and called Kusamono or Grass Men. So called because of their talent for hiding in tall grass and moving through it without being detected, basically infantry scouts.
The American Kokuryukai is a cross between an Adventure School, Martial Arts fraternity & Secret Society... Membership allows those trained in any martial arts system or, self-defense form to cross train with other systems. It also always them to practice ninjutsu, as an espionage system, attend various specialty camps. Now here is the kicker... You don't tell anyone you are American Kokuryukai. This is to a maintain the Cloak & Dagger atmosphere one does not tell people you are a ninja, and if you do you do so and show only what

The Game of Faces...
I am a Game of Thrones fan, and a few nights ago I was watching Season 6 over again. And, there was this scene where ine of the Characters, Arya Stark, was being trained by the Faceless Men. The Faceless Men are all Uber Elite Assassins, who use magic masks made from other people's faces. They also have a game, a game that teaches them to lie called the Game of Faces.
The Japanese have a similar concept, the concept of Face. Of projecting an outward and Public image of acting Morally or Honorably. This concept is called Mentsu or, Face. The term Saving Face comes from American interaction with Chinese and Japanese cultures in the 1800s. There is losing face, mentsu wo ushinau, which describes both acting dishonorably or, dishonoring another with your actions. And there is Kao O' Tataru which means to Give Face and this is more than acting honorably but, to also show Respect for your Superiors by not correcting them publicly, not embarrassing them or speaking about their failings.
In Omoto Ryu we also have a concept of Face or simply Faces. The Art of Faces or Mentsu no Jutsu is part of the skill of Mind Reading though this isn't some supernatural power but, a conscious act of knowing how an individual functions in Society. There are three faces that we all have.
The Face of Who we Pretend to be, Public image and such... Who we want to be is the second Face, these are two different faces, though sometimes they are the same. Sometimes moments in our life force use to be Someone we don't want to be & show the world a Face that is cold and heartless, underneath a Mask of Honor & Righteousness... However, these faces are not truth... The truth is our last face, The Face of who we are... These are not uniquely, Ninja Concepts... They exist in Japanese culture as the concept of Honne & Tatemae.
Honne is translated to meaning "True Sound" it refers to a person's true thoughts & feelings. What Carl Jung refereed to both the Shadow Self which is instinctive, made of what we consider negative traits; our greed, lust, fear & secret desires, & the Shadow is Wholly Unconscious. Thus our conscious mind often rejects the Shadow.
Tatemae, references the Public Image and is translated to mean "to Built in Front." This is the Public Image one builds and maintains. It often seeks out the flaws in others, projecting them if they cannot find them on to the target to conceal and hide the same flaws within themselves. It is by nature a public image & not entirely true... The opposite of Shadow is the Light Side & again we see the Daoist influence with the concepts Yin & Yang or In & Yo, opposing forces that make up the whole of the Tao or -Do, in Asian culture...
Only the Omoto Family had taken this concept deeper... They have assigned three stages to the simple Japanese concept of Honne & Tatemae. You have the Honne Mentsu, the true self with all its negative traits and positive traits. All its flaws and weaknesses & its strengths and merits. Only the Honne Mentsu, is were we try to assign our negative traits and in doing so we often spend our lives, living a lie, hiding our Honne Mentsu by telling other what we are but, showing no signs of it aside from our words.
Tatemae Mentsu is our Public Face, our Built in Front Face, so that we often hide from ourselves for fear of facing that Innerself and our own lies about our righteousness or ego enforced self-importance. The public face is a Mask, Halloween is all year round where we hide from Ourselves and expect others to believe the mask. But under this Tatemae Mentsu, is another Face an inner Mask we wear for our friends & family. Kagami Mentsu, the Mirror Face, which we need to reflect what the outside world demands of us as people... It reflects a motivation for the Tatemae Mentsu.
Allow me to explain this concept with a illustrative example;
1. A Businessman in Japan, a mid-level manager is told by superior to do one thing. He knows it cannot and will not work. However, his Tatemae Mentsu, requires him not to lose face by confronting his Superior about the flawed idea & to give face to his Senior by supporting an idea he does not agree with publicly. However, he also shows Kagami Mentsu, as someone who looks out for what is best for the company by speaking with the Senior Manager in private, about his concerns... His Honne Mentsu is selfish and wants to prove himself to be promoted and get higher. He wears two masks for his greed, one of a loyal employee and another as a someone who is looking out for the over all good of the company. Both these masks project loyalty but, neither are true. The true face is one of Greed & Envy seeking a Higher Position & Higher Pay & wears these two masks to hide the truth. The Tatemae Mentsu is what is required of him before other employees & the Kagami Mentsu is what he shows his boss privately, pretending to reveal a greater truth about his motives... In truth, he is greedy and he wants to more in terms of respect, in terms of position and in terms of pay.
2. An American Business Man wants to be seen as a creditable source of knowledge for Martial Arts. So he is always calling out frauds in the martial arts, always flaunting his language skills & always writing blogs to slander others. His Tatemae Mentsu is to appear to a knowledgeable and authoritative source of knowledge... His Kagami Mentsu is to claim to want to expose the truth & promote legitimate sources of tradition in the martial arts... But what is his Honne Mentsu? How would we find his Honne Mentsu?
Well first we must examine the extent of this truth find?
If the Business Man doesn't use anything but his own "approved sources" & makes excuses about information which conflicts with his claims... His research isn't about the truth, it is about something else.
If he cares about what supports his claims for his own art and is not able to address evidence that his own art is fraudulent & that his master has made Fraudulent claims?
This shows a desire to force or imprint his beliefs on others & not to examine the truth...
If he claims his Art's claims are legitimate and cannot be questioned?
Anyone who claims Trademark on the truth, had better have 200% proof. I say 200% because, what many claim is 100% just isn't. Anything can be questioned and one's claims can just as easily be questioned as they could be lies. Tell me I am to believe your Master because you believe your master, isn't proof... Its like saying I should believe your religion because you believe but, I believe my religion and don't need to believe what you believe to associate or treat you well. There is nothing which should not be questioned and, nothing which cannot be questioned. If you can't be questioned then your position cannot be as solid as you want to claim.
If he has a history of personal attacks against, individuals who disagree with his claims or his master's claims?
Once you abandon your argument for personal attacks, you lose the argument. You fail to show the complete merit of your argument. Your argument doesn't hold water &, you are obviously acting to protect your own self-interest.
If he has to be Challenged so that he can set outlandish rules of engagement & refuses to step into a cage like a man...
One thing I have seen dealing just this type of person online... They refuse ANY TYPE of confrontation that doesn't allow them to make up the rules. They use personal attacks to try to prompt someone to challenge them &, then invent outlandish rules or conditions that don't allow them to claim some sort of advantage...
Well here is everything you need to understand the Individuals 3-faces...
Tatemae Mentsu: To Appear to be Knowledgable and Creditable Source of info from a Legitimate Source.
If you dig deeper you will see his Kagami Mentsu: To spread legitimate sources of information and legitimate Martial Arts.
But his Honne Mentsu: Is greed, and desire to be respected and wanted. This person becoming Verbally Abusive and Attacking Others Personally doesn't show a Creditable Source of Information or Knowledgeable Author or Researcher. These actions reveal the Honne Mentsu, the hidden & true face... Those negative traits that this individual is trying to hide, their desire to be seen as a great source of knowledge, there desire for more money (greed) and perhaps even their own laziness and anger that comes from not getting what they want. The Fear of never getting the fame and recognition they demand (demand because they desire it). All this leak through in their every action and regardless of what motives they claim & they what they say...
This is merely an example of the age old saying "Trust nothing you hear and only half of what you see..." or "Seeing is believing."

Why Ninjitsu?
In this blog I am going to address something here... The answer to the question of why I have dedicated myself to Ninjitsu.
As we know thanks to the honest academic research of Anthony Cummins & Yoshie Minami, the Historical Ninjutsu Research Team and many unnamed Japanese scholars not mentioned but no less deserving of credit... (Allow me personally, to say "Thank You.") We know ninjutsu is not a martial art.
Yes, I call my martial art Black Dragon Ninjitsu but, I also refer to it as American Ninjutsu or Modern Ninjutsu. This is because when I was training with the Omoto family initially, Reginald Martin called it Omoto Ryu Ninjutsu. His father-in-law called it Ninjitsu. Kiyoshi Omoto (Western style of the name where Surname proceeds family name) called it simply Budo or Martial Way, as an all encompassing art of fighting, strategy and tactics with a philosophical guide to live by and approach life.
Now not all Budo has the same guidelines for this philosophical path... The term -do doesn't always represent Daoist/Taoist roots but a personal codified path to living.

- Judo tends to embrace a more Taoist path of going with the flow...
- Aikido tends to follow a more or less Shinto path with some Buddhist & Taoist concepts.
- Karatedo has a different pathway in that it teaches a Bushido & Zen and/or Taoist mindset in dealing with issues head on but, not looking for trouble.
- Kyudo (archery) teaches a philosophy of acting without regard for outcome... A very Zen (Japanese pronunciation of Chen) Buddhism & Taoism based concept.
- Kendo (Japanese fencing) based heavily in Bushido (Japanese Warrior Philosophy) & Shinto.
Now I know and you should realize their are differences between styles and schools of Budo not just among Karatedo and Judo, for example but one Judo school and other judo schools. You have to understand a bit of modern Japanese history.
For the four years during American Occupation of Japan Bujutsu (martial arts) were illegal. Jugaro Kano pioneered Budo by turning Jujutsu into a sport. Even in the modern Military self-discipline and good character where stressed for more practical reasons. Where as martial arts as the methods of warfare, budo is the Way of War...
What do I mean by way of war? Well first, the term way here means a Philosophical path. So way is the philosophical path of embracing life as a matter of war or conflict. The same Self-Discipline used by a warrior in the heat of battle is also useful to the Philosophical Warrior in dealing with Social, Societal and various other forms of hardship. The same good character stressed by the warrior is useful to the philosophical warrior in dealing with those same forms of hardship.
More so, it make training in Martial Arts (fighting techniques) still possible as one wasn't practicing combat arts but, philosophical sports for the betterment of individual character development.
So what was the Omoto Ryu Budo Philosophy? Omoto Ryu Budo stressed approaching life as if a warrior about to go to battle. Every action had a purpose & every purpose brought you closer to a specific goal.
Omoto Ryu Budo has 10 simple philosophical principles, part of the 5 element philosophy of warfare;

- Plant opportunity in many places in advance indirectly & harvest it when ready, directly...
- Focus on achieving small goals, while have a clear vision of your end goal...
- Build a strong place from which to take direct action...
- Deal with all problems as soon as possible so that they do not grow larger...
- Allow events to take care of themselves and do not become fixated on a solution...
- Do not, allow others to control your path when you are beginning...
- Do not, become lazy or complacent in good fortune...
- Do not, allow friendship to blind you to deception...
- Do not, let others gain more from your effort then you gain for yourself...
- Do not, depend on events to resolve themselves...
These principles combined with the study of psychological manipulation and controls. Combined with the study of strategic thinking and planning, as well as, various methods conditioning the mind and body follows the same path as all budo. Bushido is a part of cultural and philosophical training as well, because the idea is not to train warriors but to train the Warrior Within.
Our struggles may be different but, we all have to develop the Warrior within ourselves to face and overcsome our struggle. How we deal with that struggle defines us, it is how the world sees us and it is what makes us "Warriors."
None of which explains why I call my art Black Dragon Ninjitsu. I use the study of martial arts (fighting techniques) & the training methods thereof to condition the body and develop the mind before I address the Higher elements of Ninjitsu. The term Ninjitsu or Ninjutsu is a reference to that subject matter and as a modern system I can teach call whatever I like.
However, in calling it Ninjitsu/Ninjutsu I open the door to comparison and study of the Historical Ninjutsu as well.

The First Domino: Dealing with the State of West Virginia
Now we get to see where the first domino fell and why...
Don Roley (so does Phil Elmore & Barron Shepherd) wants to talk about my criminal history, so does his online horde of cyber stalkers and trolling cyber bullies. What they don't understand is that I already had this planned out. Think I am lying read Never Back Down, published on February of 2015 I explain this to the world. See it is true I was arrested for making Terroristic Threats and the Prosecutor did falsify evidence to have me fail my initial psychological examination. However, the second and third opinions (a third was used to justify the differences in the second opinion) because I would not stop saying the Prosecutor falsified evidence to Dr. Miller to have me found Incompetent to Stand Trial. In fact, one doctor even asked me why I believed this, my reply was "Because either she did it intentionally which makes her corrupt or unintentionally which makes her incompetent, either way its an established fact that there is a difference between what she gave Dr. Miller and what she gave you. Either one benefits me in court doesn't it?" The same doctor then followed up with the question "Why do you believe it is important that I believe the evidence shows the prosecutor falsified evidence?" And my reply was "It doesn't matter, its not important because the jury decides if she did or didn't. It doesn't matter what I believe it matters what I can prove and how things appear. And, I can prove Kristen Keller falsified evidence."
However, even before the book was published, or written for that matter I had a plan. August 22nd 2013 before my arrest for Terroristic Threats I said this in Open Letter to Johnathan Russell.
"Consider that I had to break the law and secretly record a motions hearing before Judge Kirkpatrick just to get the Prosecutor Pat Lamp to deny the existance or claim of a second search warrant on record. Something discussed on a court record before Magistrate Massey, who somehow loses the transcript and records, after we insured he recorded the hearing."

To intimidate him? No, to make the point he ain't gonna do shit), if they don't arrest me they look corrupt weak. If they do I get to prove their corrupt. Think Roley informing the police matters to me? Same end regardless... Quite simply, it was just letting the trolls try to "prove" something based on my lack of proof. In the 5 months of house arrest I got to create Shadow Warrior Press. And I already said this was going to happen before hand in the Open Letter Blog:

There is proof there, that the warrant was either made up by the arresting officer or the state's prosecutor Pat Lamp was lying. Perhaps both.
Adding to that I have always maintained that as a Ninjutsu practicer, neo-ninja, ninja master or whatever that Ninjutsu is a B.S. system by all accounts and stated this publicly in Full Disclosure II;

They did and they dropped the charges for that as well. But, having been in the Sex Offender Pod I noticed a lot of people I knew who were informants on the street and who would inform on me in the jail. So I manipulated one such person & used him as well to further my ends...
Robert Harry Whitamore molested a 4 year old girl and lied to West Virginia State Police on the Sex Offender Registry. In order to get away with lying to the State Police he wore a wire on me in Court. And Robert Harry Whitamore is allowed to run the Streets of Beckley WV.

As you can easily see in the Transcript that Whittamore was involved in a conspiracy to entrap me. Surely, the missing 2nd Search Warrant proven to not even be in existence, by the Statements of the Prosecutor are yet mentioned, on said Arrest Warrant and also mentioned by Pat Lamp is that the police never turned over evidence, this is an issue since the arrest warrant claims they had copies of the files.
And here is Whitamore telling another guard how smart he was for telling him how to manipulate me. Course all he got was basic conversation similar to;

Whittamore "But you said you want to kill people."

Whittamore basically admitted to entrapment. As he states he was given directions to coerce me into confessing and this is very different then your typical recorded conversation. If say for instance, someone is selling drugs to Confidential Informant (CI) and they do so without any coercion the CI has clear evidence, right? But, if a CI comes in and harasses someone to sell them their pain pills, that CI just compromised the case. From Robert Harry Whittamore's own lips... He was given instructions by an "UNIDENTIFIED MALE VOICE" to coerce me. And for that, the state let a literal "baby raper" out on the street to try to convict an innocent man. This is a violation the American Bar Association Standards of Prosecutorial Investigation, Standard 2.11 (c) (iv), whoopsy!
How does that happen? How does the release of someone who rapes a four year old and lies to police about where they live, for wearing a wire on someone who you drop all charges against later? This was something else I prepared a head of time and had evidence in my favor to confront... So, I made sure the evidence leaked and Kristen Keller falisified evidence to Dr. Miller. I didn't expect Kristen Keller to falsify evidence, I thought it would have saved me at trial but, we never went to trial. Instead Kristen Keller falsified evidence in my case, but I have already disclosed this.
As you can tell from the above, there is a good bit of information I am holding back to bring to bare later on, for strategic reasons.
Let me explain this to everyone right now, there are three goals I have to get under this cloud of harassment and threats on my life, family and friends...
Goal One: Make this so painful and destructive to the Raleigh County Court system via evidence and facts that I can skip having to look over my shoulder in fear that some badge is going to kilofme because they thought "I had a gun" or "he looked like a suspect" crap. Did that with the "Terror Threats" crap. Even addressed some of this on Attack by Stratagem, everything is about directing events to a goal & I directly took on the State in Court and won, painfully so... but, I still won.
A large part of this is built on the idea of Ashley Redden's statement about being coerced on the court record having gone missing... But there were many other incidents all compiled & explained to Lt. Deeds when I spoke to him and recorded that conversation as well, just he didn't know it. And so I jumped through the looking glass, back down the rabbit hole and I got all new evidence. Which was a painful but required sacrifice. I can keep trying to fight to get the evidence from the past or I could suck it up and get new evidence to go with that old stuff and build a long term case for harassment and abuse... Yeah, that's what I did.
Its the principle of Go & Ju or Hard & Soft. You can also equate it the principle of Tao (Chinese) or Do (Japanese) which is made up of two opposing forces Yin & Yang (Chinese) or In & Yo (Japanese). The more you resist the harder your opponent resists but you resist (Go i.e. hard or Yo/Yang or positive energy directed to yourself) just to yield (Ju i.e. yield or negative energy directed to your opponent by no longer resisting them and even feeding their fall).
Now there will be a second Domino falling over very, very soon, yes I am telling you how I manipulated the cops, courts and even the criminals in Raleigh County... Because now I am going to tell you have I manipulated Phil Elmore, Don Roley & Barron Shepherd. Leaving only Goal Two set to be played out through law suits and exposing their lies. In doing so I return their actions back in themselves.

The Kenpo of Omoto Ryu Jujitsu
Omoto Ryu Budo is an art of many fascets, Ninjutsu is what it is best known for through me but, among others it is known for it's application of Kenpo in its Atemi-waza. Now when I say Kenpo you must understand what Kenpo is...
Kenpo is different between America and Japan. If you say you study Kenpo in Japan most Japanese will ask you if you study "Chinese Kenpo" And if you say no... They then ask if you study "Okinawan Kenpo." The reason for this is that Kenpo is a purely Japanese term.
Kenpo literally means "Fist Law" which many in the West associate with Chinese Temple Boxing. However, this has a far more mundane meaning. It is the focus and domination of striking principles and techniques. Literally, the Law of Striking with the fists. Striking arts did not become big in Japan until Funakoshi brought Okinawan Karate to Japan and changed the Kanji to mean empty hand rather then Chinese hand, as it means in Okinawa.
Thus, any striking are is referred to generically as Kenpo. Fujita Seiko was a Soke in Na Ban Sato Ryu Kenpo which means Sato School of Foreign Killing Fist Law or Foreign (non-Japanese) Vital Point Striking Art in a more polished definition. It was said the Samurai who founded Na Ban Sato Ryu Kenpo learned the art in Okinawa. So we need to address the difference in Okinawan Kenpo, Japanese Kenpo and Atemi-waza in Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido etc.
Most Japanese arts were developed for warfare based on the Sengoku period. During the Tokugawa Shogunate peace made it possible for new schools to develop and new arts to exist. Many of the New arts were untested.
So Samurai deployed to Okinawa and even Korea came back with knowledge of Foreign arts. And Many of the arts had influence from Chinese arts. Named Kenpo in generic terms as unlike the Japanese arts which focused on grappling due to the fact of fighting in Armor making striking less effective than throwing someone to the ground to be stomped or killed with a weapon, making breaking an arm, fingers or choking someone to death all possible and a more highly effective option. By contrast this also has its roots in Chinese martial arts. Chin Na is a Chinese grappling art and involves not only Joint manipulation and destruction but, Dim Mak against acupressure and acupuncture points and grabbing and tearing of muscles and ligaments.
All Chinese Kenpo (to use the Japanese term) contains some Chin Na, but is best known for it's application of striking. Hence Kenpo Fist Law means governed by the fist or striking methods.
In regard to Omoto Ryu Jujitsu, the Atemi-waza is heavily influenced by Kenpo. Now this is not the Kenpo Karate we are used to in the US. American Kenpo Karate began with Ed Parker, Ed Parker was a student of William Chow who begin calling it Kenpo Karate as opposed to the Kosho Ryu Kenpo Jujitsu he was first taught. Omoto Ryu claims not connection to the lineage of Ed Parker or to Kosho Ryu Kenpo.
Kenpo in Omoto Ryu Jujitsu refers to the principles and concepts of striking arts upon the Jujitsu system. The techniques of Omoto Ryu are unique in that they are driven by one thing. Practicality... Practicality is the primary concern of Omoto Ryu. Whether you believe the Omoto Ryu is an art made up by me, taught to me by people who embellished their own history or really is a system first developed by warriors of Koga/Koka City and modified through ages as it was used by members of the Yakuza and the Kokuryukai is irrelevant (I find these claims questionable myself but, hey). There is no Soke of Omoto Ryu Budo.
In fact, being blunt Soke is a bit of a joke as a martial arts rank. It is a socio-economic (pedagogy) term to denote a familial heir to a trade... There are Soke in tea making, pottery and blacksmithing. When martial arts were no longer used in battle after the Sengoku period, Tokugawa Shogunate period that marked peace many new systems developed out of untested ideas. And many new systems were developed under the propriety ownership of certain forms of music, stories and verses in songs. Similar to modern copyright laws but, under the exclusive ownership of the Soke and the family in a system called iemoto seido. As such information was withheld to certain members based on status in the original iemoto family, social status and so on. Of course, the many new systems which were developed for commercial teaching of martial arts, using the iemoto system insured members of the Bushi/Warrior class would have greater training them say a farmer. A wealthy merchant could gain greater knowledge based on how much he could afford to pay to learn the art, compared to the farmer.
Now why doesn't the Omoto Ryu have a Soke is a good question? You have to understand what a Soke is and what it means... There is a wonderful article on Koryu.com about this very subject. In essence, certain families controlled all the art, poetry and music within an area. So these families would exert influence over anyone else doing similar work in their area. In terms of martial arts a Ronin could be hired as a Junior Instructor in an area for an established school, even though they were not of that particular lineage. However, prior to 1868 when Japan was organized into a modern nation, under the Meiji Restoration few such schools existed using the iemoto seido because of the many new forms of martial arts and new methods of training be devised by clever instructors. After the Meiji era however, many systems developed using the iemoto seido as the Meiji Restoration brought with it a change in warfare, the warrior class which ruled their own pockets of the nation was replaced with a central (federal) army made up of conscripted citizens, trained in boot camps and armed with muskets. So many martial arts adopted the iemoto seido to both pass on traditions and retain control of who taught the art both to preserve the tradition and to maintain it's traditional roots.
Omoto Ryu is not concerned with maintaining tradition in the strict since of techniques and histories passed from one person to the next. Quite the opposite the Omoto Ryu is concerned with practical application of techniques. As such many non-Japanese concepts can be applied to Omoto Ryu Atemi, and in Japanese tradition this would be referred to as "Kenpo." Body mechanics and such which makes use of the concepts of "Okinawan Kenpo" and combines them with Japanese Jujitsu. Under Sensei Martin these methods added old school USMC Hand-to-Hand combatives, boxing and wrestling. Under me adding Jeet Kune Do philosophy and modern military training & weapons. The school which withholds knowledge is not a school but a scam for extorting money from others keeping them enrolled and scamming them if their money to learn the "secrets of the arts." Under Kiyoshi Omoto Omoto Ryu was very much about Weapons with Jujitsu taking a backseat to using those weapons. Jujitsu with a semi-focus on striking and associated biomechanical actions as well as, conditioning the hands and feet for striking.
Now Omoto Ryu Budo is taught by me as Black Dragon Ninjitsu... There is no Soke.
Kenpo is different between America and Japan. If you say you study Kenpo in Japan most Japanese will ask you if you study "Chinese Kenpo" And if you say no... They then ask if you study "Okinawan Kenpo." The reason for this is that Kenpo is a purely Japanese term.
Kenpo literally means "Fist Law" which many in the West associate with Chinese Temple Boxing. However, this has a far more mundane meaning. It is the focus and domination of striking principles and techniques. Literally, the Law of Striking with the fists. Striking arts did not become big in Japan until Funakoshi brought Okinawan Karate to Japan and changed the Kanji to mean empty hand rather then Chinese hand, as it means in Okinawa.
Thus, any striking are is referred to generically as Kenpo. Fujita Seiko was a Soke in Na Ban Sato Ryu Kenpo which means Sato School of Foreign Killing Fist Law or Foreign (non-Japanese) Vital Point Striking Art in a more polished definition. It was said the Samurai who founded Na Ban Sato Ryu Kenpo learned the art in Okinawa. So we need to address the difference in Okinawan Kenpo, Japanese Kenpo and Atemi-waza in Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido etc.
Most Japanese arts were developed for warfare based on the Sengoku period. During the Tokugawa Shogunate peace made it possible for new schools to develop and new arts to exist. Many of the New arts were untested.
So Samurai deployed to Okinawa and even Korea came back with knowledge of Foreign arts. And Many of the arts had influence from Chinese arts. Named Kenpo in generic terms as unlike the Japanese arts which focused on grappling due to the fact of fighting in Armor making striking less effective than throwing someone to the ground to be stomped or killed with a weapon, making breaking an arm, fingers or choking someone to death all possible and a more highly effective option. By contrast this also has its roots in Chinese martial arts. Chin Na is a Chinese grappling art and involves not only Joint manipulation and destruction but, Dim Mak against acupressure and acupuncture points and grabbing and tearing of muscles and ligaments.
All Chinese Kenpo (to use the Japanese term) contains some Chin Na, but is best known for it's application of striking. Hence Kenpo Fist Law means governed by the fist or striking methods.
In regard to Omoto Ryu Jujitsu, the Atemi-waza is heavily influenced by Kenpo. Now this is not the Kenpo Karate we are used to in the US. American Kenpo Karate began with Ed Parker, Ed Parker was a student of William Chow who begin calling it Kenpo Karate as opposed to the Kosho Ryu Kenpo Jujitsu he was first taught. Omoto Ryu claims not connection to the lineage of Ed Parker or to Kosho Ryu Kenpo.
Kenpo in Omoto Ryu Jujitsu refers to the principles and concepts of striking arts upon the Jujitsu system. The techniques of Omoto Ryu are unique in that they are driven by one thing. Practicality... Practicality is the primary concern of Omoto Ryu. Whether you believe the Omoto Ryu is an art made up by me, taught to me by people who embellished their own history or really is a system first developed by warriors of Koga/Koka City and modified through ages as it was used by members of the Yakuza and the Kokuryukai is irrelevant (I find these claims questionable myself but, hey). There is no Soke of Omoto Ryu Budo.
In fact, being blunt Soke is a bit of a joke as a martial arts rank. It is a socio-economic (pedagogy) term to denote a familial heir to a trade... There are Soke in tea making, pottery and blacksmithing. When martial arts were no longer used in battle after the Sengoku period, Tokugawa Shogunate period that marked peace many new systems developed out of untested ideas. And many new systems were developed under the propriety ownership of certain forms of music, stories and verses in songs. Similar to modern copyright laws but, under the exclusive ownership of the Soke and the family in a system called iemoto seido. Omoto Ryu Black Dragon Dojo
So as all the chaos in my lief seems to be headed toward being calmed down and after a year of having Shadow Warrior Publishing at the forefront of endeavors I'm happy to say I will soon, hopefully all thinks considered. Reopen my martial arts schools in down town Beckley, West Virginia.
The Omoto Ryu Black Dragon Dojo will be a "fully operational Death Star..." errr Martial Arts school. The sad truth is martial arts on the internet is full trolls and posers "nut riding" one person's success while targeting others for slander and harassment. Many times this is a sad result of jealousy or fear of competition. However, as I stated before in Will of Iron: Understanding the Fighting Spirit the fact is that it is not how hard you hit but how hard you can get hit and stand up again. The Omoto Ryu Black Dragon Dojo is the flag ship for Black Dragon Ninjitsu and with it comes a explosion of martial arts and self-defense programs. No one has a patient on Ninjutsu (Ninjitsu) and we know from historical research that ninjutsu is not a martial art, there is no sole source of ninjutsu or a "legitimate" one at that. As I have stated before evidence points to Takamatsu making up his tradition from openly revealed historical documents.
The Omoto Ryu Black Dragon Dojo is focused on Self-Defense without the fluff of many martial arts schools and the propaganda expressed by those online. This is a modern martial arts school, and while I do plan to teach and discuss the historical aspects this will come from study of Historical Documents like the Bansenshukai, Sun Tzu's Art of War and the other Chinese military classics, plus books like the Hagakure and Go Rin Sho (Book of 5 Rings). We are planning to teach three systems and host many camps and courses on a more private basis. These three systems are Street Focus Jujitsu & Black Dragon Ninjitsu and I am adding a third course in Civilian Counter-Terrorism Self-Defense that will be available as a series of progressive self-defense courses.

Black Dragon Ninjitsu:
Lets be honest here Black Dragon Ninjitsu is modern art that is my own invention, it is a mix of the Omoto Ryu Budo, which does contain ninjutsu, US Army Infantry Training, Jeet Kune Do Concepts/Philosophy and other martial arts and training aspects used by Reality Based Martial Arts. This system focuses on six areas of study at five ranges of combat.

2. Weapons Training to include firearms tactics later on but, applied to the four fundamental weapons of stick/staff, knives, shuriken or throwing weapons and chains at shodan allowing one to use anything around them as a potential weapon...

6. Survival Training & First Aid to increase the odds of one's survival...

1. Mental: Not only fighting Psychological manipulation but seeing and evaluating an opponent's intent by non-verbal ques...
2. Striking Range: punching and kicking distance...
3. Infighting Range; which can very between strikes with the knees and elbows to throws, joint-locks/breaks and stand up grappling...
4. Grappling Range: Most often seen as ground fighting distance, while not exclusively the domain of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu we are not as specialized in this range of fighting...
5. Weapons Range; a distance of fighting that can only be achieved using a weapon being it a spear, throwing knife or firearm.
Street Focus Jujitsu:
Another "invention" of mine Street Focus Jujitsu is a modern adaptation of Sport Jujitsu similar to its combative cousin combat jujitsu with a greater focus on modern self-defense and principles of psychology and sociology. This was began is something I was teaching US Soldier's as a Hand-to-Hand Combat Instructor in the US Army at company level in 1/503d Air Assault Camp Casey Korea before the unit was transfer to Italy and re-designated an Airborne Infantry unit. This art was created as an attempt to avoid the drama and childishness associated with the ninjutsu community of the Ninja Martial Arts Cult.
Civilian Anti-Terrorism Courses:
The Civilian Anti-Terrorism Course was a project I started after leaving the Army in 2005, actually around 2009. I feel with today's political climate that this would be best served for anyone seeking to learn basic paramilitary skills. While the core of Civilian Anti-Terrorism deal with identifying and avoiding a potential terrorist threat before it becomes a danger, this course includes basic self-defense combatives, stick & knife work, as well as basic individual and small teams tactics and survival training.
Class Fees:
Monthly, pay as you go no contracts $135 a month or $1,620 a year
$125 a month or $1,500 a year with a one year contract
$115 a month or $1,380 a year with a two year contract

Warrior, Predator & Healer... Archetypes of Omoto Ryu Budo....
In Black Dragon Ninjitsu we use these three archetypes to reflect the mindset of the practitioner of martial arts and ninjutsu. The term predator is not the original term, since the original term is "Hunter" but we are taught that a hunter should reflect the attitude of a "animal on the hunt." These three archetypes reflect the essence of Omoto Ryu Budo, three paths that one must walk...
The journey is the destination... or as Tolken wrote "Not all that glitters is gold and not who wander are lost..." You live, you do stuff and you die. The End... Everyone's life story summed up in a very small sentence. That is the simplicity of life, what you do between birth and death is all that matters. No one gets out of life, alive but, that does not mean our lives are without purpose or meaning. This is the nature of the first path, one must be a Warrior...
The Warrior, is first phase of one's development. Taking responsibility for one's self, striving to better one's self in all ways and at all times, maintaining faith in one's beliefs and respecting one's self. The warrior not merely someone who fights but someone who is willing to lose their life for something greater. A future... the future. The warrior is were one learns to embrace hardship and forges themselves like steel. Each day for the warrior is competition with one's self. Competition with others only allows one enjoy their success in forging themselves but the goal is always in bettering themselves.
The Warrior, is a learning and exercising of the traits of Courage, Personal Honor, Loyalty to one's beliefs, Self-Discipline and Duty to one's higher power. There will always be those who see the Warrior as "hero" or "villain" but the warrior does not concern himself with such labels. The Warrior, does what he (or she) much because they can. Warriors do not call the call 911 to save a child in a burning car, they rush into flames because they are there. The Warrior must defeat their greatest enemy, their only enemy; themselves...
Self-Discipline is the core of the warrior's personality. They are in control of their emotions, they do not let fear, anger, sympathy, lust or love sway them. It is not to say that do not have such emotions, it is to say strive to control them, to do the hard right over the easy wrong. The warrior is not cold nor is he out of control, the warrior is logical and purpose filled. As I said this is the beginning of the path.
The Hunter is the next path. This is beginning of the path which leads to understanding tactics, strategy and in fact human psychology. The hunter studies his prey, manipulates it's habits and actions. The Hunter, requires all the Self-Discipline & Courage of the Warrior but adds the quest for understanding the nature & methods of their prey. A Hunter must be cautious not become the Hunted, as is the case when dealing with any dangerous animal.
The Hunter, shares traits with Carl Jung's Trickster & Magician... The Hunter baits, traps, ambushes, hides and stakes out the goals of the prey. The Hunter also lives with nature and uses the ebb and flow of nature; seasons, tides, etc. to bring about their end goal.
The Healer is the final path of the ninja, it is the path of learning to undo damage. Healing isn't just treating physical injury but, mental and emotional pain as well. The Healer is a storing force, a truce maker and teacher. This is were the traits of forgiveness, benevolence and mercy come in. The Healer's first patient is himself (herself). Such things are a manifestation of the complete circle of following the three paths.
The Warrior is disciplined and fights to preserve that which he loves, the Hunter is cunning and uses his (her) enemy against themselves (We are our own worst enemies after all...) and the Healer mends our wounds and seeks to help let go of old grudges. These three archetypes guide and manifest the nature of Omoto Ryu Budo...
